Wantuir Carlos Ramos Junior

Master's Student
Supervised by Ryan 2016-2019

Wantuir completed his undergraduate studies at Sao Paulo University in Brazil in Medical Physics. After graduating from SPU, Wantuir worked for 10 years in Brazil before moving to Canada to complete his Master’s degree in the Spine and Movement Biomechanics Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Ryan Graham. Wantuir’s research is focused on the development of inexpensive alternative devices for motion capture. Specifically, he is applying computer vision and artificial intelligence techniques (i.e., image segmentation) to use an RGB-D Microsoft Kinect camera to identify and track anatomical landmarks of the spine as an inexpensive motion capture tool for clinical use.
